The work groups are seeking broader input to what has been completed so far. Thoughtful comments from a cross section of healthcare stakeholders that will help each work group be as comprehensive as possible with each definition without sacrificing the clarity that is needed to stave off confusion and create a clear reference point for the healthcare industry.

Your contribution to this work should be guided by two principles:

• Be clear - whenever possible, use examples, explain reasoning and intent
• Look for areas of agreement - the goal is to work together to improve healthcare

The Network Work Group is in particular, is seeking specific feedback on the question below.

• HIE represents the process of enabling health data sharing and not the entity that operates and provides oversight of the mechanism of exchange. Is there a need to introduce a new term to describe this entity that is not limited by geography or community mission, and what could that term be?

Overall, the work groups are interested in understanding if the proposed definitions are consistent with or in conflict with the way these terms are currently being used. If there are significant differences, please site the term and the context in which it is being used in addition to proposing ways to reconcile these differences.
